On Wednesday 5th Leek Loves Books will be taking over the @outside_arts_ butter market stall to promote world book day with crafts and our mystery book sale.

We are also going to be launching our programme for our 2nd book festival on the 7th of June. We have more authors, more venues, fresh author talks and panels, workshops for both adults and children as well as headline acts performing in the evening.

We can't wait to share it all with you 📚

FESTIVAL WORKSHOP AND EVENT !
We are pleased to announce Roger Elkin will be running a poetry workshop and poetry and prose event at our June festival.

In 2024 Roger you may have met Roger at the Foxlowe as part of the Leek Arts Festival; or in July in Biddulph Town Hall as part of the Biddulph Festival.

Roger Elkin is the author of fifteen poetry collections, the latest being A Party Business (2024) and Small Fry (2023) from Littoral Press, and The Leading Question (High Window Press, 2021), which was shortlisted for the Wales Poetry Book Award and the 2022 Arnold Bennett Award. The collection deals with the events of the Irish Potato Famine 1845-52.

Really looking forward to these - once our full schedule is live you will be able to get your place secured but we aren't quite ready yet.... watch this space :)

New Author!

@chris.turnbull20 will be joining us for the first time at our June festival. As you can see Chris is a Jack Russell Daddy to @ollythejack1 and he is featured in some of his books.

Chris was born in Bradford, West Yorkshire in England.

The eldest of two sons Chris originally wanted to become a dog groomer and trained in this field before working on a farm in the grooming room as well as helping with the dog hydrotherapy.

After a few years Chris moved on, and found a job at Bradford University working with PhD students in the Biology labs. Chris enjoyed nealry 7 years here before moving over to York University to take on a similar, be it more senor role.

Chris now lives on the outskirts of York with his partner and their Jack Russell terrier.

We can't wait to see what exciting plans Chris has for this year.
