Lindsey Porter

Lindsey was born in Cheddleton but was brought up and attended schools in
Leek, he is 77 years old. He has been writing since his school days and after
training as a Chartered Surveyor he went into publishing about 50 years ago.
With around110 titles written and more than 600 books published, these
include several on the Leek area and the Peak District. Lindsey has written
books of national interest and a recent publication is ‘Britain’s Traditional
Football Games past and present’, which includes a section on Leek.
Amongst the smaller books he has written are a series of 7 guidebooks to the
Scottish Islands. He is currently writing a new book called ‘Secrets and
Curiosities in and around the Peak District’ and it will be published later this
year.
